Overview of the Canadian Education System

Canada offers a world-class, publicly-funded education system known for research excellence, diversity, and a direct path to permanent residency.

Canada's education system is administered at the provincial level, meaning each province (Ontario, BC, Quebec, Alberta) has its own universities and colleges. Programs follow either a semester or trimester system. Degrees are globally recognized and Canadian institutions rank consistently in QS and THE world rankings. Community colleges and polytechnic institutes offer affordable diploma and advanced diploma programs with strong industry connections and co-op work terms built into the curriculum. The two official languages are English and French, with the majority of programs taught in English.
